Wooden Windows

A warm window of your home – a luxury, a waste of money, or a reasonable and well-considered choice?

The manufacturing of wooden windows requires not only great knowledge but also deep practical skills. Modern wooden windows are made of plywood beams of three, four or even five plies. Window beams are manufactured by means of the state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies by removing the defects of wood and concurrently maintaining its best qualities. Traditionally, pine wood is used for wooden windows. Also, windows can be made of mahogany, oak, eucalypt and other types of exotic timber.
Wooden windows are noted for longevity, cosiness, excellent thermal and sound insulation characteristics; they excellently match furniture, doors and parquet of the interior.

Wooden windows of good manufacturing quality will bring uniqueness, naturalness and solidness to your home.

Advantages of natural wood:

Easy maintenance

We offer you the following wooden window systems:

Euro 78

Euro 78 – 78mm thickness plywood windows noted for excellent thermal and sound insulation characteristics. These windows are especially popular among construction organisations where construction volumes are large and thermal characteristics of windows are subject to high requirements. As a rule, 42 mm thickness glass units are used. For greater protection against atmospheric impact, from the outside windows can be braced by aluminium.
Technical characteristics:

  • Heat transmission coefficient  U=1.1W/(m2K)
  • Resistant to sound of 36db
  • Resistant to 600 Pa water pressure

Euro 92

Euro 92 – the most state-of-the art 92 mm thickness heat-saving wooden window for your dwelling. This product is mainly preferred by customers in private houses who want to enjoy windows of maximum thermal performance. This window is manufactured of 92 mm thickness plywood beam of four of five plies of the selected type of wood. In order to ensure thermal performance of the window we use two types of glass units:

  • 56 mm triple insulated glass units. Heat transmission coefficient U=0.5 W/ (m2*K).
  • 60mm quadruple insulated glass units. Heat transmission coefficient U=0.37 W / (m2*K).

Total heat transmission coefficient of a window with a triple insulated glass unit, warm frame and selective coating of a new generation is U=0.81 W / (m2*K), and of a window with a quadruple insulated glass unit – U=0.73 W / (m2*K).

Glazing

We install windows with triple or quadruple insulated glass units. Their thermal performance depends on the span between glass, inert gas filling such spans, special selective coating of glass and material of frames separating glass. As a rule, aluminium frames are used. “Termix” or “TGI” frames are installed in order achieve especially high thermal performance of the window. Thermal performance of glass units can be improved further by using krypton gas fill instead of argon gas between glass layers, but this is very expensive and, therefore, is seldom used. A more popular method for improving the performance of a glass unit is to replace the usual selective coating by a new generation solution. To improve the stability of a window, glass units may be bonded inside the window frame. Total width of the insulated glass unit can vary between 24 and 60 mm. To bond an insulated glass unit into the window frame we use organic silicone or a special rubber gasket.

Wooden windows of the Scandinavian type

Although these windows are intended for the Scandinavian market, their installation in the Baltic countries has also become more and more frequent. Since these windows open to the outside they allow saving the interior space and when the wind is strong the window panel is pressed against gaskets even stronger thus ensuring maximum tightness. Windows of the Scandinavian type are distinguished for a wide choice of their operation types, which makes them an excellent alternative for each architectural solution. Furthermore, they have narrower frames and, therefore, they look lighter and more modern, and their insulated glass unit area is larger than in the case of the European type windows. From the outside, these windows can be braced with aluminium to provide for maximum durability.

Coating

You can choose colours from “RAL” or “NCS” palettes. We recommend coating a wooden window from the exterior with paint and applying from the interior:

N

the same colour as that used for the exterior (most cost-efficient)

N

another colour from “RAL” or “NCS” palettes

N

a transparent varnish and retaining the natural colour of wood

N

a transparent varnish and creating the desired tint

N

coating with oil (both interior and exterior in the case of mahogany)

Ornamental dividers

The glass of Scandinavian windows is often divided by means of ornamental dividers. They may be made of aluminium inside the glass unit and of wood attached to the glass by silicone or fixed using special holders. Removable dividers are placed within 2 mm distance from glass to make the cleaning of such windows easier.

Aluminium bracing

Aluminium cladding of the window from the outside provides maximum protection for wood against negative impact of atmospheric factors, while at the same time allowing the wood to “breathe”. Such windows are perfect for minimum maintenance. We use the wood-aluminium window hardware of the German manufacturer GUTMANN GmbH. We apply to aluminium profiles powder coating of any “RAL” colour or give to it a silver tint by anodising.

Closing mechanisms and locks

The problem of weight often arises when manufacturing warm windows of the Scandinavian type. Triple glass units are very heavy, therefore for control of windows and for ensuring their perfect functioning we use Danish PN UNI firm bindings well-known on the market for their durability and capability to bear the largest loads.
